Message board for young people with alopecia

HeadzUp Mates has been created to give kids and teens a place where they can make friends and share experiences with other young people with alopecia.

It's quite difficult for young people with alopecia to get to know each other as they're often the only person in their school with the condition. Teenagers often keep their alopecia a secret, known only to their families and most trusted friends and this makes it even less likely they will get to know each other.

The charity behind HeadzUp, Alopecia UK, said that a large number of parents had contacted them to say that their child would like to meet other young people with alopecia. HeadzUp Mates is a great way to enable them to make contact. Alopecia UK may look into events in the future to enable face to face meets.

The message board has been created with every thought to safety. Parents can join to keep an eye on the communications, while not taking part, and all messages are checked before they are published.
