Talented teenager is an inspiration
A talented teenager has has not let alopecia get in her way and has beaten tough competition to secure a place at the National Youth Theatre.
Emily Clifford, 17, has had alopecia since she was two years old. But this did not stop her from chasing her dreams and she is currently studying Drama and Performing Arts at college.
Emily was one of only 15 youngsters to be accepted from the 200 people who applied. She will start two weeks of training in London in July and then spend up to eight weeks working behind the scenes in West End shows.
There is then an opportunity for further training, if funds can be found.
Emily's mother, Claire White, said: "She has always been interested in acting and the stage and it was when she met Matt Lucas and he told her to get into the National Youth Theatre, which is what he did, that got her really motivated. Ever since then, Emily has had it in her brain.
"This is a great achievement for anyone, let alone someone with alopecia. I'm very proud of her she is an inspiration."
