The one patch which grows bigger took all the hair from the back. I was using a medication which I feel helped but I stopped taking it, shall I continue taking the medication?

Your hair condition sounds very like alopecia areata that has been recovering on its own. This happens in 75% of cases. It is worth going back to your doctor though to get a professional opinion on how the patches are responding, and do ask if they feel it would help to try further medication. It is a very good sign that your hair has grown back in some of the patches.
